Westkill Restoration

Westkill Restoration

The original house designed by Anderson Architects was built in 1996 on top of an abandoned foundation in the Catskill Mountains. Paul Henderson, then employed by Anderson Architects, worked as part of the design team. Twenty years later, the original owners hired SH Studio to completely renovate the 2,800 sq. ft. house. The main chimney was reconstructed, the plywood flooring was replaced in-kind, and new slate slab floors were installed in the kitchen, bathrooms and hearth. Exterior siding, windows and doors were replaced. The continuous exterior cedar deck that runs from grade, through the interior and then forms the cantilever bridge was replaced after reinforcing the structure.
